We have a hikers hut available that is dedicated to accommodating hikers and climbers. The facility is clean and have fridge/freezer and bathroom with shower. We have bunkbeds with good mattresses that can accommodate 6 people in the hut.

There are two bedrooms with a bunkbed in each and another bunkbed in the open lounge/kitchen area.

You have the option of doing a variety of hiker routes in the area (one is easy to follow around the mountain, the other is navigating with way points - great training for hikes like the Fish River Canyon)

Our hiker's hut is dedicated to hiking clubs and climbers that would like to visit our property and explore our mountain.

Although it comes with a hot shower and comfortable beds, it is set up so you can use and test out your camping kit (including stoves, sleeping bags, etc).

Our hiking trail is also a perfect training ground for hikes like the Fish River Canyon due to our climate, the sandy paths, rocky bits, and some ups and downs.

Parking

There are parking vehicles at the start of the hike. It is a 1km hike to the hiker's hut. Access to the chalets is limited to 4-wheel drive vehicles only. With special arrangement, we can arrange a drop off at the hut for those without 4-wheel drive.

Activities

The West Coast is known for its beautiful night skies and open space where you can unwind from your busy life and reconnect with nature. Klein Tafelberg is in the heart of the Sandveld and offers activities for the adventurous as well as those that want to take it easy.

Enjoy a hike on the mountain, bird watching (we have resident Verreaux eagles), stargazing, or simply some quiet time in front of the fire. We also offer activities that can be pre-arranged and booked with us directly; airsoft games, climbing our custom-built rock climbing wall, self-defense training, or challenge yourself and your vehicle on our very well-known 4x4 track.

We also have a developing rock climbing crag (trad and sport) for experienced rock climbers.

Access to the hut is through thick sand and you require a 4-wheel drive. Hikers can park in our parking at the start of the hike (ie: parking for non-4 wheel drives) and walk with their gear to the hut (less than 1km away) Drop-off is possible by special arrangement.
